It is necessary that strong clerical influence should be brought to bear on the Catholics to restrain violence. CHARGE AGAINST THE POLICE. London, August 19. The Londonderry Council passed a resolution asking the Government fo: an inquiry into the action of the constabulary. It charges the police witli failing to protect Hie Unionist procession, that they deliberately broke windows in the Unionist quarter with their batons and rifles, and that the' shot off one of their rifles and killed A rip strong.
