WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.

COUNCIL'S MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Whangamomona County Council was held on Friday. Present: Councillors A. Meredith (chairman), W. A. M'Cutchan, W. Bacon, E. B. Roberton, J. Diggins, A. Coyne. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor J. M'Cluggage. ENGINEER'S REPORT. The engineer's report was read. It was.decided that Mr Spcnco be appointed foreman for Pohokura ingIt was resolved, on the motion of Crs. Bacon and M'Cutchan, that sledging ho allowed on the Prospect Road, at tho discretion of the Council. LMPROYING THE MAIL SERVICE. A letter' was received from the Olmra County Council with reference to the mail service for Tahora-Okahu-kura, and, it was resolved to notify the Olmra County Council that this Council ha:, already moved in tbp required direction. APPLICATION FOR GRANT. Cr, Bacon moved, and Cr. M'Cutclian seconded, that application be inudo for a grant of £SOOO for reinstating tho Olmra Road, or, in the case of refusal, that tho Government do the work themselves. Cr. Roberton moved an amendment to the effect that the above application be made, but'that the order of the alternatives be reversed. The amendment was carried. GENERAL. Correspondence was received from the Minister of Finance re £IOOO ! drainage loan; from the Public Works i Department, re repairs to the Man- | gaowata Road; from tho Public Works I department, re taking over control of the Mangaowata Road, also re cro-sing over tarn-line on tho same road. Accounts amounting to £IOO 19s were passed for payment.
