STRIKE AT BLACKBALL.
THE "DOG WATCH." [Per Press Association.] Greymouth, August 18. A strike occurred at the Blackball mine to-day, 350 to 100 men being out in consequence of the management',' refusal to discontinue the "doa watch," known* as the night shift. 10 p.m. to (i a.m. Both sides are reticent as regards details. ft is understood that the Miners' i nioii refused as a body to work unless the dog watch shift was abolished with the result that the manage meat accepted the request as an ultimatum. All work is at a standstill to-day. The Blackball Company's steamei Ngahcro left to-daj loaded for Wellington, The Ngatoro's and Petono'; movements are now uncertain.
