McVilly, reporting on the Diamond Sculls incident, said that although he was very tired at the finish, he was quite comfortable and was not fully extended. He eays: “I won by over a length without a thought of having won other than fairly and was totally unconscious that Pinks got any of my wash. To say that I was thunderstruck at my reception, is putting it mildly.” FOOTBALL. HEADQUARTERS OF LEAGUE. Auckland, August 16. The Auckland Football League last night, by 21 to 7, reversed the decision of three weeks ago to urge the removal of headquarters to Wellington, the majority of the clubs having since instructed the delegates how to vote.
856 TO NIL IN TWO YEARS. The Manly (Sydney) Superior Public School has a remarkable football team in so far as school football is concerned. For two years the .school team has been undefeated. Their line has never been crossed, neither have they seen a goal go up again str them. > The Manly School had one team last year, and it went through the B grade school’s competitinon unbeaten, scorschouls’ competition unbeaten, scoring the remarkable total of 462 points to nil. The team was advanced to the A grade. competition this year, and has f(urther advanced its claims to fame. Even in this year’s higher grade defeat has not been met. The, team has scored 160 points to nil. The school is also running a second, team this year, and it is following closely in tile footsteps of its senior team. Defeat is an unknnwnj j quantity, and 228 points have been scored against nothing. : i The performances of the teams are undoubtedly great. The iads play'A brilliant game, as the scores show. Their opponents’ lack of scores speaks volumes for the wonderful defence of the youngsters. Altogether the school teams have scored 856 points in two seasons against nothing. ,
