Governor Sulzer refused to quit, so Lieutenant-Governor Glynn took possession of the Governor's offices, but Sulzer declined to be driven out and attempted to conduct the State business as usual. Matters have reached a deadlock, the heads of departments not knowing who really possesses authority. [Sulzer admitted using political funds for private speculation.] THE TAMMANY INFLUENCE. (Received 11.45 a.m.) New York, August 14. Tho friends of Governor Sulzer declare that the impeachment is the result of a Tammany plot. Sulzer, after having secured office through Tammany influence, refused to be longer the tool of the Tammany leaders.
