LABORERS BURIED ALIVE. [Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 12. 15 .aim.) Rio Janeiro, August 11. A rock slide occurred in a quarry at Porto Balls, thirteen laborers being killed. The men were operating a steam shovel, which fell over and buried them alive.

ACCIDENT TO STEAMER. Ottawa. August 11. The steamer Saint Ercnes was partially wrecked through being flung against a wharf while travelling down the Sunguenay river. A submarine disturbance is supposed to have been the cause. The tourists aboard narrowly escaped.
