BOROUGH WORKS.

REPORTS TO THE COUNCIL. The following reports are to be presented at the monthly meeting of the Borough Council on Monday evening next: — WORKS COMMITTEE. 1. We have considered the application from Messrs Wolfe and others for the formation of Ariel Street in the Stratford Extension and have to advise that as the Council has no jurisdiction over the street in question the application cannot be entertained.

2. A request has been received from Messrs Hopkins and Besley for a continuation v of the Hamlet street footpath from O'Leary's property northwards to Mr Hopkins' property. The Overseer has been instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost. 3. Your committee recommend that kerbing and channelling be carried out on the following streetst Broadway, both sides from Regan Street to Soyton Street; Regan Street, both »ides from Broadway to Miranda Street and on north side from Broadway to Juliet Street; Fenton Street, both sides from Miranda Street to Juliet Street. That tenders be called for the above work. OVERSEER, Scarifying, re-metalling, blinding and rolling has been done on the following streets: Pembroke Road Wes, from Mr Branigan's residence to lowing streets.: Pembroke Road West, from Juliet Street in an eastern direction, Juliet Street North at hollow near Mr Lovett's brick house, jtlliet Street Central opposite Public Works new buildings, Regan Street West from Broadway to Miranda Street, Cordelia Street at hollow near Mr T. Grubb's residence, Penton Street West from Broadway to Mirinda Street. Following is a summary of material used on the above streets: Pembroke Road 136 yards, Juliet Street Central 41iyds, Cordelia Street 244yds, Regan Street West 42yds, Juliet Street North 24yds, Warwick Road 78yds. The quantity put on Fenton Street I am unable to give, the work being completed at about 4 o'clock this evening (August 4th). Metal patching has been done on the following streets: Romeo, Juliet, Portia and Page Streets and Brecon Road.

Footpath on west .iside of Portia Street from Regan Street to about ene chain n J orth of Mr Riera's house has been gravelled. Water tables in same locality have been put in orden : Edges on side of footpath and roadway in Miranda Street Central have been plughed .off. ' The levelling up of same is being done 'as opportunity offers.

The work authorised to be done near Mrs: Haasall's residence has been emulated. The Railway Department has removed the bank of-earth, at Romeo Street as requested by your 1 Council.
