DR. MAWSON 5N TROUBLE. SHORTAGE OF FOOD SUPPLIES. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] Sydney, August 6. The inhabitants of the Macquaries, comprising five members of Mawson's expedition and eight men employed by Messrs Hatch boiling down penguins for oil, have wirelessed that the ketch Rachel Cohen, which sailed from Hobart on "June 3 with stores, has no. arrived. They are out cf stores ami almost exhausted. The position is grave, unless the Rachel Cohen arrives. The secretary of the Mawson expedition states, however, that the animal life and fish are abundant, and suggests that even though the Rachel Cohen may be safe a warship should be despatched to the relief of the islanders.
A wireless message has been receiv ed from Mawson, from Adelio Land that the two top lengths of the wire less mast were blown down by a hur ricane on June 8. The work of re pairing has been delayed by violen weather. All the party are well am in good spirits.
