CONGRESS OF MEDICOS.

The Congress was opened in the Albert Hall, 8000 people being present. Many of the delegates wore academic gowns.

Prince Arthur of Connaught welcomed the delegates on behalf of ths King., He recalled the fact that Pasteur's discoveries were a feature of the 1881 congress, but Roetgen, rays and radium furnished the medical world with far more powerful weapons for diagnosis and the treatment of disease. Australia, New Zealand and other dominions had assisted England to convene the congress, thereby forging another link in the Imperial ideal. Dr. Parlow delivered the Presidential address.

A REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING. London, August 6. The Government banquetted 500 medical delegates at the Hotel Cecil. Lord Morley presided. He said that it was a genuinely international gathering of the brightest stars of the medical firmament. The subjects to bo discussed were rich and comprehensive. The Congress would not fail to be a real and powerful unifying agent. Princo Arthur of Connaught will open the deliberations at the Albert Hall to-day. Twenty-three halls have been secured to accommodate sections. Six hundred papers will bo read.

The discussions will bo conducted in certain sections in English, French, German, and Italian, and at least one section in Esperanto.
