A CHARGE DISMISSED.

Frank O'Brien Gillespie was found not guilty on a charge of attempting to break and enter the counting house at Lambton Quay railway station. ,«'Y"'',".'. "'NEw'Rids.:,' | Christchurch, August 6. Messrs F,, Wilding and S. G. Raymond were sworn in as King's Counsel at the Supreme Court this morning by Mr Justice Denniston and Mr Stringer, K.C., and a large gathering of the Bar were present. WELLINGTON SUPREME COURT. Wellington, August 6. At the Supreme Court to-day James Henry Sergeant, who had a long list of previous convictions against him was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on a charge of breaking and entering, and was declared an habitual criminal.

YOUNG WOMAN CHARGED WITH BIGAMY.

In the Magistrate's Court a young woman named Angel Willis Doel was committed for trial on a charge of bigamy. She was first married in Blenheim in 1904, and left her husband soon after, having been, it is alleged, badly treated by him. Her second marriage took place in 1912 at Wellington, when the woman was 26 years of age. Tn a statement to the police, accused said she believed she had a right to marry after she had left her husband seven years-.

HENDERSON MURDER CHARGE. Auckland, August ,6. At the Police Court Alice Sarah Williamson was charged with the murder of Ellen Ahlgren at Henderson. She reserved her defence ant was committed for trial. "NEW CHUMS" IN COURT. Wellington, August G. Two comparatively recent arrivals wore before tho Court to-day. One John Coulter, who deserted from the stokehold of tho Morere, admitted five charges of theft, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. He asked for reformative treatment, and was remanded for sentence to the Supreme Court on a charge of breaking and entering.

The second offender, Herbert Portions, a motor mechanic, admitted three charges of theft and two of forgery, and was sentenced to one month and remanded for sentence by the Supreme Court on the charge of forgery.
