REVISED VERSION.

SUFFRAGETTES' LITANY. "SAVE EMMELINE PANKHURST!" [By Electric Telegraph—copyright] [United Press Association.] London, August 3. When the Litany was recited at St. Paul's Cathedral this morning. 40 suffragettes , chanted together: "Save Emmeline Pankhurst! Spare her! spare her! Give her light and set her free! Save her, save her! Hear us, while we pray to Thee!" The outburst caused a sensation amongst the worshippers. The women left quietly after the completion of the Litany.

The officiating priest had just finished his recitation of a prayer for captives and prisoners, when the suffragettes, grouped together, recited their special invocation, harmonising with the chanting of the choir. The incident had evidently been carefully rehearsed. The verse was sung three or four times, each time in a louder key. The vergers led the women out. A few chairs were upset, otherwise the proceedings were orderly. The verse was printed and circulated widely. It is intended to use it in other churches.
