Second Edition ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES.

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press (Association.] Mjelbourne, July 24. A woman named Hume was arrested to-day charged with having between November 20, 1904, and July 24, 1913, obtained by means of false pretences various sums of money from Louisa Hobson. It is stated that in 1904 Miss Dobson fell in love with a navy man, who some time later left Melbourne in his ship. Subsequently Miss Dobeon gob letters purporting to come ■from the sailor asking f,<?r money. She supplied various sums from time to time, believing all the time that tho money was going to the sailor. After nine years she bedame suspicious, and consulted tho detectives, who to-day arrested Hume. It is stated that Miss Dobson has been swindled of about £2OO.
