Sydney, August 4
The Rev. C. James has returned from a visit to the New Hebrides. As the result of inquiries, lie confirms the emphatic position taken up by the missionaries and other Britishers regarding the unworkahility of the Condominium. The French have been steadily strengthening their position hy acquiring land and making settlement, although Australia rather*than France is their market. He has no hesitation in saying that the British will have little chance of fair play when their claims are dealt with.
