The latter in their first innings made 118, and the Australians 101 in their first innings, which was not completed. (Received 8.5 a.m.) New York, August 3. Eillington (England) heat Dickmai [Australia) over a mile for the profes sional swimming championship of tin world. They kept together for twe hundred yards and thence Billingtoi drew away, and won easily in 23mii 11 5-6 secs, which is a world’s pro fessional record. I LAWN TENNIS. Arnst has challenged Paddon t< row on November 15th for the championship of Australia for £2OO a side. ' BOXING. t Brussels, August 2. After the Carpentier-Wells fight, a Bill will he introduced providing fining or imprisonment for bodily injury inflicted in a boxing match. Parliament was unable to discuss the Bill, but the Minister for Justice has given it force by ordering all magistrates to prosecute pitilessly all participators in boxing matches for bodily harm inflicted.
