MYSTERIOUS MURDER,

The police report that the body of a man named Peter Hanson, with a bullet-wound, was found in a bag near the township of Williams. Two neighbours went to Hanson’s place and saw men' with bags round their feet, apparently to prevent footmarks. The Dolico have arrested the men. ■, __ jj THE ST. IVES TRAGEDY. Sydney, July 29. The trial of Brown for murdering Sergeant Hickey on the first of May is proceeding. Brown, backed by many law books and documents, argued that the whole affair was the outcome of malice, because during legal proceedings. regarding his property, extending over several years, ho had taken proceedings against people in high positions. He.also advanced the contention that the shooting was accidental. The judge was frequently compelled to interrupt him.
