FEMININE FASHIONS.
DARING TRENCH Mi IDES
[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [Sydney Sun Special Cable.] 1 ’ai is, July j.
The feminine fashions for flic summer of 1913 will long be remembered as the most daring for the last 100 years'.
Not since the Directoire period have women dressed so scantily as thousands of those who attended the Auteui! Prix de Gras, which is recognised as the. most elegant social function of the year. The costumes seen at Auteuil left no doubt regarding the present trend of fashion, which is to wear as little as possible, and that little tolerably transparent. With all the low necks and bare arms that were in evidence, the paddock presented more the appearance of a ball-room. Apparently corsets are right out of date,, and the majority of the bodices seen did not reach far above the waist.- ■ -
’ Petticoats are in little favour, and there were several women whose lace skirts were absoultely i transparent, and wlio, therefore,! adopted'theAtricM tights.' 'There were the ’centre- of interest,'and were 1 variously commented y upon.
