STRATFORD POULTRY SHOW.

A POOR ATTENDANCE. The Stratford Poultry Society had extremely bad luck in the matter of weather for this year’s show, the weather holding good right up to the opening day and then tbveaking down badly—to the extent of two inches of rain in twenty-four hours. The rain started to fall fairly heavily a little before noon and was practically continuous until late at -night. In the circumstances it could hardly bo wondered at that the attendance at the show at tho Town Hail was very meagre. A fqw enthusiasts who visited the show in the afternoon and evening were the only ones who braved the elements to be, present. The weather has every appearance of keeping better to-day, and no doubt the Society will have some compensation in a larger attendance this evening. The Hall presented quite a busy scene this afternoon, there being a good number of the public present.

Considerable stir was also caused by the arrival of perambulators bearing representatives of the rising generation whose fond parents were desirous of annexing the baby show prizes. Tie babies, each on the knee of a mother or other guardian, made quite an imposing show on the stage, a large number having been , entered, making the task of the judge, Dr. Cameron, no easy one. The baby show awards were as follows ;—• Under three months.—Ethel Keighley 1, George Smith 2, Charles Hanson 3. Under six months.—Lawrence Rutherford 1, John Raethal 2, Charlie Steer 3. Under twelve months.—Monica Kovaleski 1, Robert Bowen 2, Julia Green 3. Under eighteen months.—Ernest Peterson 1, Timothy Lynch 2, David Bourke 3. Under two years.—Douglas Huckstep 1, Elsie Harris 2, Doreen Cameron 3. Twins.—Mrs Steer’s entry. Champion Baby (from tho first in each class). —Girl, Monica Kovaleski; boy, Ernest Peterson.
