AUSTRALIAN FLAGSHIP. , I ‘ THE KING'S INSPECTION. j i [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] London, July 1. The Australian sailors were drawn up on the deck, when Admirals Meux and Patey welcomed the King, the Prince of Wales and Sir George Reid. His .Majesty closely inspected tile vessel. He. was extremely solicitous for the comfort of the officers and men,' and commented on the improved con-j ditions as compared with his own sea; service days. He enquired regard-1 ing the Australians serving abroad, whereupon the officers joined up w itn, their Royal Navy colleagues in a. I group on the quarter-deck and weie; photographed with the King as the) centre figure. After the inspection, Sir George ■ Reid, on behalf of the Australian (Jove rumen t and people, thanked the King for visiting “this, your Majesty’s first Australian flagship.” The King replied that be was very: pleased at all that he had seen. The King, borrowing an equerry’s sword, knighted Admiral Patey. The Royalties and Sir George Reid lunched in Portsmouth.
