Bertram MacKennal, the Australian sculptor, has had his design for 2s 6d and os postal stamps printed on the Lino-Engraving principle. They are greatly admired. The design represents Britannia guiding three seahorses, with the King’s head in the top left-hand corner.

THE CRYSTAL PALACE. A private citizen has offered the Times £30,000 towards the Palace fund, if £60,000 is subscribed in July. King George, Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra have each subscribed £lO3 to the Crystal Palace fund.

IMPERIAL REVENUE. (Received 8.45 a.m.) London, July 1. The quarters revenue was £39,480,892. Customs contributed £8,320,000, excise £8,321,000, estate duties £7,621,000, stamps £225,000. DEATHS FROM HEAT. (Received 9.0 a.m.) New York, July 1. The heat wave is increasing. Many were driven insane. Eleven deaths occurred at Detroit, four at Cincinnati!, and five at South-bend. Scores of people were prostrated. N.Z. OILFIELDS COMPANY. London, July 1. The New Zealand Oilfields Company lias appointed a committee to investigate the Company’s affairs. Consideration of the issue has been postponed.
