RAILWAY WORKER'S DEATH. [Per Press Association.l Christchurch, July 1. Frederick Hobbs, married, 45, a boiler maker at the railway workshops, who was admitted to the hospital on Juno 19, suffering from a crushed foot, has died thero as the result of tho accident.
DEATH OF A BABY. Auckland, June 30. On Sunday morning the three monthsold boy baby of Mr and Mrs Beer, of Remuera, died, apparently as a result of injuries sustained in a fall from a perambulator, two days earlier. On Friday Mrs Beer had left the baby in a perambulator in tho yard, at the back door, while she was busy with her household duties. Suddenly Mrs Beer heard cries, and ran out, to find that the pram, was overturned and the baby was on the ground. Evidently the pram had been touched, and had run down an incline and capsized. The baby did not seem to be hurt, and was soon all rigid, bid on Saturday it became unwell, and Dr. Williams was called in. The child died on Sunday morning, and the doetor was unable to certify as to the cause of death.
FOUND DROWXED. Greymouth, June 30. Thomas Maher, aged seventy-three, living alone in a hut at Cobden, has T)oo.n missing since June 9. His body was found yesterday floating in the Cobden lagoon. At the inquest a verdict of found drowned was returned.
