Constantinople, Juno 25
The executions passed off quietly. The scaffold was surrounded by a double cordon of troops. There were two hundred spectators.
The condemned men met their death bravely, with a few short speeches. Mollahs and Dervishes preceded the condemned men to the gallows, intoning prayers for the dead. Each was placed in a coffin wearing a white overall, with a placard attached to the hreast notifying the crime. Crowds afterwards flocked to the square to view the bodies.
