RUNNING AMOK.

A MADMAN IN A SCHOOL.

SHOOTS INDISCRIMIN ATELY

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] I United Press Association. 1

Berlin, Juno 21

Schmidt, a candidate for the position of teacher, apparently went insane, and entered the grounds of a Catholic school at Bremen. He shot two girls dead and wounded six others and also the teacher. When arrested, six revolvers were lound in his possession. Schmidt first entered the room which contained sixty-five young girls. He shot wildly, killing three and wounding ten. The schoolmaster jumped on the assassin’s hack, but was mortally wounded.

Schmidt then ran into the playground and wounded five boys. An infuriated crowd of parents and others captured and beat Schmidt insensible before he was rescued by the police.

FIRED 35 SHOTS

(Received 9.35 a.m.) Berlin, June 22

Schmidt fired 35 shots altogether, hitting 21 persons. He had 1000 cartridges about his clothing, his hat and socks being lined with them. He was suffering from persecution mania, which was aroused directly he heard the word “Jesuit.”
