Mr Cook departed for Melbourne to-night. Mr McKay’s (Liberal) request for a recount at Ballarat has been refused, on the ground that nothing has been disclosed to justify it. Mr Hedges, the unsuccessful Liberal

candidate at Perth, has notified that it is his intention to test the legality of the election. (Received 9.35 a.m.) Sydney, June 21. The Illawarra recount is completed, and leaves the position unaltered.
