In the Supreme Court, before the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), the hearing of evidence was commenced in a case Involving the control of the Missions to Seamen building. The plaintiff was Mary Ann Williams, donor of the land and building, and defendants the Attorney-General and the W. R. Williams Memorial for the Missions to Seamen Trust Board. It was alleged that the declaration of the trust did not carry out the intentions of Captain Williams, and that it did not represent the agreement arrived at between Mrs Williams and the Board of Trustees, insofar as the trust did not therein limit the control by the Misisons to Seamen to such time as the Rev. James Moore should be missioner of the Society at Wellington. Plaintiff asked for an order rectifying the mistake, and bringing about the desired limitation. The hearing was adjourned.
