At the Grreymouth'Court . to-day Axel Askenbeck, formerly second clerk of the Magistrate's and Warden's Courts at Grey mouth, >vas convicted of embezzling moneys paid into the Court, and sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. William Henry found guilty yesterday of obtaining wool by representing himself as the agent for Murray Roberts, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. In the civil business W. J. Eatson claimed £5Ol damages from Begg and Co., music sellers, of Dunedin, for an alleged malicious prosecution. After hearing the evidence of plaintiff, Justice Denniston granted a non-suit, with costs on the highest scale.
