POLITICAL
THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Wellington, June 9. • Asked to-day if it was intended to introduce a Legislative Council Bill into the Upper House this session, the Prime Minister replied in the negative. The Bill would be introduced in the House of Representatives. It was not one of the twenty policy measures which the Government would have ready for Parliament when the session opened, but it was in an advanced stage of preparation, and needed only the final approval of Cabinet. Mr Massey said that the principle of large electorates would be retained, but each Island might possibly be subdivided for the purposes of representation. The next appointments to the Council would probably be announced in the Governor's Speech.
