SPECIAL PRIZES. , The special prizes offered this year for general exhibits are numerous, and in most cases substantial. Out of a total of over 130 specials, poultry secure 63 and fancy work 27. Heretofore exhibitors in the fancy work division have not been awarded money prizes, framed diplomas and certificates having been presented to winners instead of cash. ’Tire new departure is considered to be a wise step on the part of the Show Committee, and will no doubt result 'in good entries. Besides ordinary and special prizes, an oil painting, ’ valued at £3 3s, and music to the value of £1 Is, ■lvillTbt# presented to the exhibitor scoring the most points, in ail adult classes; while points prizes valued at £2 24 and £1 Is respectively, will be awarded to the successful exhibitors in classes from 1 to 10, and 11 to 18 inclusive. In ' this division also, girls are offered great inducements to exhibit certain classes of work, and no doubt there will be keen competition. Entries close at Hawera on the 14th instant, at 10 p.m.
