By a whirlwind at Macao, one hundred persons were drowned. Boatmen fired crackers and bom lie to propitiate the anger of the gods. Many junks foundered ,and widespread damage was caused. CHINESE PIRACY. A MURDEROUS ASSAULT. Hongkong, June 8. Pirates in the West river captured the French steamer Robert le Beauday, plying from Hongkong to Foochow, and stole £2IOO in specie. The Chinese passengers were shot dead, and six of the crew were wounded while defending the ship.
