Second Edition HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID.
Wellington, Juno 5. At a conference of the local bodies contributing to the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, proposals were agreed to regarding the increased levies. Included in the proposals are the following:—That the Mayor or Chairman of each local body contributing to the Board be ex-officio a member, and that the number- of elective members be reduced proportionately; that estimates of the levies every year bo first submitted to the local authority for consideration; that the practice in force prior to the Act of 1909 regarding patients in sanatoria should again he followed, making the cost of the indigent admitted to a particular institution a charge against the institution itself, and not against the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board; that the cost of treatment of natives should be provided, as formerly, from the civil list; that hospital privileges be confined to persons of limited incomes ; that patients who desire to escape payment shall make a declaration as to their means. ,
