NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

In the ball-room or the social hall appearances counts a good deal. The man who is correctly dressed in a well-fitting “Egmont” suit, wearing spotless collar and shirt of the latest mode, faultless tie faultlessly tied, correct evening shoes, and so on, is assured of a. good time. A woollen muffler makes things “comfy”,, when the dance is over. The Egmont Clothing Co. is making special provision for the men who dance.

Quite a-novel number of gifts (principally leather goods) from the subject of Mr Hopkin’s change of advertisement to-day on page 4. For chronic chest complaints, Wood Great Penpermint. Cure. Any amount of those farmers have reason to thank Messrs C. and E. Jackson, land agents for the care exercised in placing them upon profitable farms. At Wilkinson’s Hall, Eltham, skat ing now takes every Friday evening. A full Band is in attendance.

Mr Newton King’s next Stratford horse fair will be held on Saturday, Juno 7th.

Mr Newton King’s next stock sale at Toko will bo held on Monday, 9th, and his Stratford sale will be held on the following day, Tuesday. Entries for both sales appear in another column.

Clients will please note that the reserve on the pedigree Jersey cattle to be sold on account of Mr W. H. Fenwick, Tariki, by the N.Z. L. and M. A. Co., has now been withdrawn, and the cattle will bo sold absolutely without reserve.
