He was implicitly trusted in connection with measures against spies. When an investigation was made it was proved that he had been selling to Russia for the past fourteen years many military secrets. The Minister of War summoned him ro Vienna. Four officers accompanied him to his room and said that they would return in the morning and arest him. They left a loaded revolver on the table, with a book of instructions on how to use it. The officers then mounted guard outride until a shot was heard. THE POWER OF GOLD. (Received 8 a.m.) Vienna, May 30. Real received £IOO,OOO for the secrets, including the plans of the cooperation in use by the Austrian and German armies. •
