A RUNAWAY TRAIN.

ENGINE CAPSIZES. [Per Press Association.] Greymouth, May 28. This morning, as the Public Works train was corning down the incline from the No. 2 State mine, with fourteen trucks, and 120 tons of coal, the largo Go-ton W.E. type of engine, recently placed on the line, failed to hold the train, in spite of all the brakes being jammed on. The engine driver (Gray), and the fireman (Ford), stuck to the train until the engine reached a lino with a dead end. They then jumped clear and escaped without injury. The engine struck the bank and turned over. Two trucks wore damaged. The engine was formerly on the Rinmtaka incline, and requires a centre rail which is not yet in position.
