AN ELECTION RE-COUNT.

[Per Press Association.] Tim i n, May 26. After hearing some evidence to-day. Mr Day, S.M., ordered a re-count of the votes in the late mayoral election. One deputy who returned seven informal votes stated that he put aside as informally marked some which the Magistrate said should have been admitted, Two witnesses said that they were refused a paper on the grounds that their names were not on the roll, when in fact they were, but not in their correct alphabetical order. During the discussion frequent reference was made to the returning officer having no check on the deputies, all he cohld do being to tot up the numbers they gave him. Mr David Stuart, J.P., was appointed to make a re-count.
