ROYAL NUPTIALS.
BRILLIANT PROCESSION. “HOME LIFE” BY THE KAISER. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] Berlin, May 25. The marriage was celebrated at five in the afternoon. There was a brilliant procession, headed by tlie biidal party, followed by the Emperor, the Duchess of Cumberland, the Empress, the Duke of Cumberland, the Czar, Queen Mary, King George, the Crown Princes and other royalties. The procession proceeded through the gates of the castle to the chapel, which was tilled with notabilities. A congratulatory reception followed, and then a banquet, at which 1200 sat down.
The Kaiser, in a moving speech, addressing the newly-married couple, referred to the great role of Guelphs and Hohenzollerns in shaping the Fatherland. He dwelt on the duties and privileges of homo life, and begged the Cnmberlands to take hisdaughter into their loving protection. Enormous crowds cheered the pair while they were proceeding to Hubertus,stock for their honeymoon. The Czar has departed for home. SMOTHERED IX CARNATIONS. Berlin, May 24. The royalties and notables of the Empire attended a gala performance of “Lohengrin,” at the Royal Opera house. The auditorium was garlanded with myrtle and smothered in carnations, Princess Victoria’s favourite flower. The staircases and corridors were lined with roses and carnations. THE PRESENTS. The wedding presents are valued at half a million sterling.
