SPORTING.

WANGANUI RACES. Wanganui, May 24. The weather was lovely for the second day of the Wanganui Winter Meeting. The course was in splendid order, and the attendance excellent. Results:— Winter Oats.—Makara 1, Sanguinary 2, JCatlla 3. All started. Makara and Ineuru were in front in the early stages. Sanguinary came fast on the outside at the end, but was just beaten. Time, Imin 15 4-ssec. Balgownie, Hack.—Kilrain 1, Mummer 1, Austin 3. All started. Mummer led into the straight, where Kilrain got on terms, and after a great race between the pair, won by a neck, five lengths between 2nd and 3rd. Time, Imin 59sec.

Grandstand Steeplechase.—Kauroa 1, Leolanter 2j Tire Native 3. Scratched: Tyranic and Bismarck, A good race,, won by four lengths, a similar distance ■ between second and third. Time, smin Ssec. Rata Hack Hurdles.—Big Blast 1, Supreme 2, Watchchain. 3. Scratched ; Smoody. Won by two lengths, four lengths between second and third. Time, 3min Geec.
