The report of the Brisbane Tramway Company presented to British shareholders shows that the late strike caused a direct and indirect loss of £32,000. RECOVERING THE LOSS. (Received 10.5 a.m.) Sydney, May 23. The Employers’ Federation is considering a scheme to have legislation introduced ito compel trade unions to establish a fund to permit employers suffering loss through ©trikes to recover damages in the law courts. THE NORTHERN TERRITORY. Darwin, May 23. The strike has practically fizzled out.
The strikers are preparing to telegraph Mr Scaddon (Premier) that the Territory administration being in thenview unsympathetic with labour ideals, they desire to migrate to Westralia, where a living wage is assured.
