The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 7th instant:— London Wool Sales.—l3B,ooo bales of wool wore sold at the wool sales, of which 45,000 bales were taken for the Continent and 1000 for America. 49,000 bales were held over . The sales closed strong. As compared with last sales’ closing rates, prices are higher by about par to 5 per cent for scoured Merino, inferior and coarse and medium crossbred slipe; and lower by about par to 5 per cent for greasy Merino, inferior and fine and medium greasy crossbred. Wheat.—We have sold an Australian cargo at 38s c.i.f. There is verv little demand owing to Continental political situation, and the market is likely to decline. We quote per ciuarter c.i.f. New Zealand wheat longerried 375, short-berried 3Gs 6d.
