FIRE.
EGMONT HOTEL, RAWER A. [Per Press Association.] Shortly after nine o’clock on Thursday evening a fire was discovered in bedroom No. 16 of the Egmont Hotel. The Star reports, that the fire brigade soon bad the flames suppressed. The fire was confined to the room, which was occupied by Miss A. Patridge, a barmaid. The room was badly gutted,' one of tho partitions being burnt through, while the ceiling was also a good deal damaged. The contents of the room No. 16 were destroyed, and Miss Patridge and her sister, (who had arrived in Hawera the same evening) lost all their personal effects, which were not insured. Their loss is a heavy one, Including money amounting to £27 and £lO. The damage to tho three rooms is between £BO and £IOO. The licensee, Mr T. Gormley, is unfortunate, as this is tho second fire that has occurred in his premises.
