MOONLIGHT MISSIONS.

AT ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH. (Contributed.) . The Presbyterians are bolding a series of special meetings during the moonlight evenings of this month in the St. Andrew’s Hall. It is now customary for most churches to have special misisons, and sometimes they unite in a general mission, as they are doing at the Chapman-Alexander campaign just held in Auckland. Again they have missions within their own particular congregation, as in the case of the recent Anglican mission, which was so fruitful for good. Occasionally, in such missions a neighbouring minister is asked to help in conducting the services, hut otherwise the minister of the congregation, with the help of tho office-bearers and people conducts his own mission. This is the plan being adopted by the local Presbyterians. The need for such s mission arises from the temptation of tho times—to crowd God and religion out of life. Frequently a sane scriptural mission brings men hack to recognise tho existence and claims of tiro Almighty to a life of service ’and devotion to His cause.
