N.S.W. DRINK BILL.
THE FACTOR OF PRIVATE PROFIT.
[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.10 a.m.) Sydney, April .‘3O. The Herald, commenting on the drink bill, says that very few of the people who are not directly benefitting from the Trade can view the very largo increase in the expenditure on drink without regret. The lamentable fact remains that all the labour put into the work of reform has not apparently affected either the drinking habits of the people or the steadily increasing revenue derived from the sale, wherein every person, including the most vigorous opponent of the Trade, shares. The paper advocates as the best remedy for chocking the growth of drinking, the elimination of the factor of private profit.
