The visiting sailors were later entertained at tea in the Garrison Hall. In-the evening the men attended a complimentary concert given’in their Honour in the Municipal Theatre, some of them contributing to the programme.

• The town is thronged with visitors, and during the day thousands of school children from the town and surrounding country districts visited the vessel, which lay in the roadstead. The Government steamer Tutahekai and the local vessels conveyed children and adults to the warship.
