A CHARGE OF MURDER.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION OF MYSTERY. [By Telegraph—Copyright 1 [United Press Association.] (Received 9.35 a.m.) Sydney, April 25. The inquest on the girl Porter has been resumed. The evidence disclosed a possible new solution of the mystery. It was stated that deceased 'was friendly with a baker named Ohard, and occasionally went out rides with him in hi® cart. The detectives submitted a report that there was a growing conviction amongst the police that it was not a case of murder and suggesting that Porter was riding with Chard and was butted off the cart and struck her head on n stump when falling. The medical evidence stated that the wounds were compatible with this theory. The inquest is unfinished. Chard has been bound over in bis own recognisance to appear at ;the adjourned enquiry.
