A SERIOUS RELAPSE

Rome, April 13
The Pope has had a relapse. His complaint is diagnosed as tracheal bronchitis, and is considered grave, owing to his weakness and age. His temperature was 103, and g' ew steadily worse in the evening.
The guards have been doubled, to ensure that nobody is admitted.
Messages at midnight state that coughing has weakened the patient considerably. He is now dozing, and respiration is difficult. The physicians predicted a relapse on learning that, contrary to instructions, ho had been permitted to grant an audience.
