THE SLAUGHTERMEN’S DISPUTE

Wellington, April 8.
The Manaivatu, and Wanganui Slaughtermen’s Unions, in reply to applications, for registration, have been informed by the Department that their members might conveniently belong to the Wellington Slaughtermen’s Union. HEAVY WEATHER ON THE EAST ‘COAST. Napier, April S. The heavy southerly, brought up an unusually heavy sea, the waves breaking over the parade parapet. Shipping was considerably disorganised. Tne barque Albert, which was.moored in the inner harbour, broke adrift and crashed on the trapolers, doing much damage. Uxe weather is now clearing. Wellington, April 8. The German steamer Borenfel arrived from Napier this morning two days overdue, in consequence of a storm, during which the vessel was kept well out to sea. She had a very rough time, but .sustained no damage. ALLEGED THEFT. ■ r •“ ' Auckland, April 8. Charles Gilbert Moreland was charged at the Police Court, with theft at Napier of £3 Ba.Od, the property of the Liverpool, London, and Globe Insurance Co. The police stated that accused had admitted speculations amounting to £SO. Accused was remanded to Napier, bail being allowed on sureties of £IOO and two of £SO each. ,
