L. Beary, has been received by me and referred to the Commissioner of Police for his consideration and report.” A DOMINION CATTLE SHOW. Auckland, April 6. The Auckland A. and P. Association is taking steps to hold a Dominion show about the middle of December, coincident with the Exhibition. The show ground is to be extended, and it is expected there will be a specially fine show of horses and sheep. CARNEGIE LIBRARY FOR FAIRLIE. Timaru, April 6. The Mackenzie- County Council has accepted £IOOO from the Carnegie Corporation to erect a public library at Fairlie, a condition being that the Council furnish £IOO a year for maintenance and give the site. AN EXHIBITION COURT. Timaru, April 6. Delegates from the local bodies today decided that with the limitation of cost local bodies had fixed on, viz., £450, it was impracticable to provide a separate South Canterbury court at the Auckland Exhibition. Negotiations are to be opened with North Canterbury for a combined court. DAMAGED BY LIGHTNING. Wellington, April 7. The Secretary of the Post Office received the following message from the postmaster at Shannon yesterday about 9.20 a.m.: On Saturday night heavy lightning fused the wires connected to the test cabinet in the Shannon instrument room, all the wires being burnt out, resulting in telegraphic communication over this route being completely cut off. The damage caused by the fire was confined to a few scorched boards in the vicinity of the test cabinet. Direct telegraphic communication with Palmerston North and Wanganui was arranged via the East Coast and Manawatu Gorge. ,
