j., The second annual report of the Greater J. D. Williams Company shows that the net profit, after deducting all charges and doubtful debits', was £22,684. From this £13;53< 'will be deducted to pay an interim dividend in August, leaving a balance of £9,146. It is proposed to transfer £6OOO to the reserve, provide an additional £SOO for doubtful debts, and carry forward the balance, £2.646. The reserve now amounts to £IO,OOO. The directors are optimistic of the future, and look forward with confidence to the resumption of dividends as soon as the returns are forthcoming from the company’s interests in the amalgamated concern.
