THE STEAMER JOHN MISSING

The steamer John, which left Lyttelton at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday for Wellington, has not yet been heard of. She had only sufficient coal for two days, and is believed to have been blown out to sea by the heavy northnest gale. The John carried 330 tons of produce for Wellington and Wanganui, and if not soon heard of it is feared she will need assistance.
