THE FLOODS IN AMERICA.
RESCUE AND RELIEF WORK. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) Columbus, March 29. The floods on the Ohio river have receded. Official reports state that the number of dead does not exceed GOO throughout the entire flood area. The relief situation is satisfactory. Motor-boats, skimming the submerged streets, effected hundreds of rescues. Troy (New York), March 29. The floods destroyed thirty buildings. No lives were lost. The military are patrolling the streets. Fires considerably damaged the business section. Received 9.35 a.m.) Dayton, March 30. The flood situation is improving. The bodies have been buried. The relief service is adequate. The secretary of the garrison estimates that the total number of victims in the flood area did not exceed 500. Cencinnath, Mafrch 30.' Through the floods 15,000 are homeless in the Ohio Valley. Kentucky towns were flooded j a few lives were lost. Army patrols are protecting the dangerous level in the Mississippi.
