THE FALL OF ADRIANOPLE.
38,000 PRISONERS AND 040 GUNS. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) Sofia, March 28. The Sobranje has passed a resolution of gratitude for the army’s glorious exploits. The deputies, standing, joined in prayer for the repose of the souls of the country’s fallen heroes. King Ferdinand received Chukri Pasha at Tirnova. Thirty-eight thousand prisoners were taken at Adrianople, including 5S German and 18 Roumanian officers, and 640 guns.
BEFORE CHATALDJA
Sofia, March 28. The Bulgarian advanced guard occupied Chataldja village and heights eastword of Akalan. The Turks were driven back to the principal lino of Chataldja, where the Bulgarians now occupy their former position. When news was received of the fall of Adrianople, cheers were given along the line from the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmora, and the troops on the Bulair line took up the cheering from the Sea of Marmora to the Aegean Sea. Constantinople, March 28. The artillery duel on the right wing at Chataldja closed on Thursday. Djavid Pasha’s reported surrender was premature. He offered to surrender, if allowed to retain his sword. He is still negotiating. GREEKS AND BULGARIANS. Salonika, March 28. The Greek army from Janina is concentrating here with a view to checkmating the Bulgarians, who are in considerable force at Serge. MONTENEGRO’S NEW TERRITORY. Reuter’s states that the Powers, in view of the meeting in regard to Montenegro’s complaint of the small territorial acquirement at Sk'utari, propose to send a commission and render financial assistance to transform Lake Skntari into cultivable land, which Montenegro greatly needs. THE SIEGE OF ADRIANOPLE.\ DUE TO THE SERVIAN FIRE, t j >•_ r . 4.] ‘j | •' i : ,■, , Belgrade, March 28. The fall of Adrianople was directly due to the terrible fire of the Servian seige-gnns. As the besiegers dosed in on the town, deserters came out in great numbers reporting that the garrison was exhausted and only Chukris could be induced to continue the fighting. Servian artillery concentrated on the eastern forts, and there were desperate conflicts throughout Tuesday and Wednesday nights. When the eastern forts were captured the Turks fired the town at various points. There were great flames and loud detonations as the arsenals ignited. EVACUATION OF ALBANIA. (Received 9.5 a.m.) Vienna, March 28. Servia will comply with the Powers’ summons to evacuate Albania.
The Powers are addressing a similar request to Montenegro. Sofia, March 28. The Allies agreed to accept the Powers’ proposals as a basis of peace negotiation. TURKEY’S CONCESSION TO MONTENEGRO. Cettinje, March 28. Montenegro points out that Turkey in 1911 granted her a concession to drain Lake Skutari to compensate Montenegro for her losses in Albania, and the rising contract was entrusted to a French company.
