ERI THOMPSON’S FATHER FATALLY GORED.

Invercargill. March 26,
A well-known resident of Stewart Island named James R. Thompson was fatally gored by a cow on Tuesday. Ho left home in the morning to bring in the cons, and, not returning, a search was instituted, and his dead body was found in the bush, the horn having penetrated his abdomen. Deceased, who was aged 60, was father of Eri Thompson, tho vocalist discovered by Madame Melba. > COACH-BUILDERS’ CONFERENCE, j Wellington, March 26. At the Coachbuilders’ Conference to-day, tho following officers were elected: —President, J. Bett (Pal--merston North); vice-presidents, J. Orrniston White (Dunedin), F. Rouse (Wellington); secretary, G. Dash (Waimate); executive committee, E. James (Blenheim), H. Childs (Stratford), W. Atkin (Auckland), Whittaker (Hamilton), G. Faulkner (Napier), and one member to bo elected to represent Christchurch.
